to my sisters, truths learned:

a man who wants you to change is in need of that change in himself.

drop any part of yourself for a man and be sure that man is going to drop you.

change for a man and that man will change towards you.

be who you be and let the world bring you the man who is worthy of you.

Change to better you for your own sake, for the sake of your next life. There is no good in pleasing people. Please God. He will be pleased at your good. People will not. It will frighten them and make them question their goodness. They will hate you for inspiring them because being ignorant is more fun than being full of goodness. The goodness will last. The fun will not.

It’s about being overly satisfied with something you’ve done and feeling a satisfaction about it. That is ‘ujb, one of the diseases of the heart. The moments when i think I have stumbled upon something truly great- I lose it and I am humbled by those moments. They bring me back down to modesty and humility rather than ego inflating self satisfaction. A nefs worshipper is one who is narcissistic and self obsessed. The nefs is the lowly self or ego. We have to strive be conscious worshippers of Allah, only.
